Shipping trains

A foreign exporter contacted us asking whether RSN could take charge of the required preparations in order to lift passenger trains into a vessel. The trains arrived by rail at the Port of Antwerp and needed to be shipped to Canada.

This was right up RSN's street! First and foremost, the brake magnets needed to be retrieved from under the trains so that they could be positioned in the vessel without impediment.  The total weight of the wagons also needed to be determined. The RSN team brought screw lifting jacks to site in order to disassemble the magnets and slid a weighing system under the trains. Each train weighed 32 metric tons. After everything was ready for transport, they were lifted onto the vessel using a large port crane.
